Google Play.

Why there are no targets on the map

Alerts on the map are working as usual. Only target tracking (Shaheds, missiles, etc.) is currently not shown.

We get target data from the official source. After the November 1 incident, it is temporarily unavailable while a security audit and recovery continue on the official side. As soon as the source is back online, targets will reappear on the map automatically. According to the developers, this should happen once all security audits are completed, likely this week.

We can’t speed this up, since we have no access to the “Alert!” system. Thank you for your patience.

What happened: the official version

The Stfalcon team, which develops the “Alert!” app together with Ajax Systems, published an explanation. In short:

  • What “Alert!” is. It is a volunteer ecosystem built by Ajax Systems and Stfalcon with support from the Ministry of Digital Transformation: the operator interface, mobile apps, the alert map, the API, and integrations. Alerts are entered by civil protection operators or officials responsible for notifications in local communities. From there, the data goes to the app and to the API used by other systems: alert maps, mall loudspeakers, and street sirens.
  • What happened. There was unauthorized access to the operator interface, not to the end-user app. It was used to send notifications about non-existent threats (radiation, chemical threat, street fighting), as well as custom notifications in Russian linking to a third-party Telegram channel. Not all details are being disclosed for security reasons.
  • The response. Together with the relevant services and ministries, the operator interface and the app’s backend were suspended right away. Within two hours, the operator interface and core functions — alert push notifications and danger levels — were restored.
  • What is happening now. A security audit is underway, along with work to restore target display on the map. The developers are working almost non-stop.
  • User safety. The app doesn’t store or transmit user data and has no access to sensitive phone functions. Claims about data leaks, hacked accounts or phones, or viruses are false. If you deleted the app, you can reinstall it from the App Store or Google Play.

How it all looked on our map on the evening of November 1, and how we removed the false alerts, is covered in a separate post: False Alerts on November 1: What Happened.
